100 Dresses

100 dresses activity
Date: Thursday, January 28, 2010
Time: 6:30 p.m.
Location: Relief Society Room at the churchouse

We are asking each of the sisters to do the following prior to the activity:

1. Read the book, it's a children's book, so it's really short and a really fast read (contact Stephanie, Tonia, Dorothy, or Megan if you need a copy to borrow).

2. Find a photo of yourself in a dress on a significant day in your life (baby blessing, baptism, wedding, etc.). We are going to play a fun game with the photos. Please get your photos to Stephanie, Tonia, Dorothy, or Megan prior to Thursday, if possible. You will get your photos back after the activity.

For the activity itself, please:

3. Bring a dress (in good condition) to donate. We are trying to collect 100 dresses in all shapes, sizes, and colors to donate, so if you have several dresses, feel free to bring more than one.

4. If you want to bring an appetizer, sign up on the sign-up sheet on Sunday.

This is going to be a great activity centered around the book and dresses.

Family Home Evening Swap

Come to the Family Home Evening swap! Thursday, January 14th at 6:30 p.m. at the church. Please bring a simple family home evening packet for the swap.

We will be providing one family home evening packet on TITHING for you to take home and we will be doing a swap for the packets brought by the other sisters.

Some things to include in your family home evening packet for the swap:
Theme
Song that goes with theme
Scripture that goes with theme
Lesson or story that goes with theme (you can include illustrations for the story, or little puppets to be used for the story)
Activity that goes with theme (you can include items used for the activity in the packet)
Recipe for treat

For example: If your FHE theme is prayer, the activity for younger children can be coloring a picture of a family praying - older children can be decorating a prayer rock - teenagers can be testimonies on how prayer has influenced their lives. For your packet you would need a typed up page with the theme, song, scripture, lesson/story (along with any illustrations that could be used), and instructions for the activity along with materials for the activity (a coloring page or some rocks), and a recipe.

UFO Night

This Friday at Tonia's Allred's house (1180 Willard) all the ladies will be gathering to work on their UFO's. So don't be the only one not there - grab whatever project you have been working on and head over to her house any time between 6:30 and midnight!

Finding the Best in Yourself

Hey Gals

We are having an activity this Thursday at the church at 7:00. We have asked a couple of professional counselors to come and talk to us about finding the best in ourselves. These girls speak to a lot of groups on self esteem and have a great perspective on being happy with the individual that you are. These ladies have made changes to their work schedule to accommodate us and we are very grateful for that. Tell your neighbors you will be picking them up on Thursday and we hope to see you there. And as always there will be good fun, good food, and good friends!

Girls' Night

It's date night and I have no date so I'm declaring a Girls' Night. I've got the what, but I need the who. You're all invited to Amy Freeman's house (isn't that so generous of me) for games and chocolate dipping. We'll provide the chocolate if you'll bring the stuff to dip. Home Improvement Tips

Ok it's that time of the year when everyone starts to do their spring cleaning and as they make the rounds through the house notice things that have been neglected through the winter. Thursday nights activity is centered around spring cleaning, quick fix it ideas, and new decorating tips. Make sure you write down any questions you might have in these areas and bring them with you tomorrow night at 7:00 at the church. Hope to see you there!

I have been telling people about how I have begun to do the coupon thing and people are sounding interested.  Here is a list of blogs that I frequently look at.  The key to couponing is to start somewhere and then build from there.  I can't tell you how many free toothbrushes, soap, toothpaste, shampoo, toilet paper, body wash, food items, and more that I have gotten through using the coupons from the sunday paper and from printables off the internet.  Have a look and make sure to scroll through older posts to get the idea of what is going on.
